Colin Pero, MD, FACS, is double Board-Certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He completed a Fellowship accredited by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and his training and practice focus on Facial Plastic Surgery with a special emphasis on Cosmetic and Reconstructive nasal surgery. He has a strong emphasis on excellent functional and natural-appearing results, with avoidance of the “tell-tale” signs of poorly-performed plastic surgery.
The letters FACS (Fellow, American College of Surgeons) after Dr. Pero’s name means that his education and training, professional qualifications, surgical competence, and ethical conduct have passed a rigorous evaluation, and have been found to be consistent with the high standards established and demanded by the college.
As a native of the Dallas area (growing up in Allen, Texas), Dr. Pero is proud to be practicing in the North Dallas area. Following graduation from Allen High School, Dr. Pero attended Baylor University on a Presidential Scholarship, earning the Dean’s List amongst other honors.
Following college, Dr. Pero attended the University of Texas Health Sciences Center-Houston Medical School, where he excelled. He was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the only nationally recognized honor society for medical school students.
Following medical school, Dr. Pero performed his internship in General Surgery at the famed Charity Hospital in New Orleans. His residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (Ear, Nose, and Throat) was also completed in New Orleans at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. Throughout his residency, he regularly scored in the top 5 -10% of all Otolaryngology residents on the annual in-service exam. At the conclusion of his residency, Dr. Pero was selected for a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical School under the tutelage of the world-renowned rhinoplasty expert, Dean M. Toriumi, M.D.
As an author of multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, textbook chapters, and presentations at national and international meetings, Dr. Pero has contributed significant scientific research to the fields of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Pero serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor with the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, where he trains the residents in the field of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Pero has been in practice for over 10 years and is a well-known expert in his field with a record of excellence. He has chosen to focus his training and practice on Facial Plastic Surgery of the Head, Face, and Neck only and is pleased to offer his patients surgical and non-surgical treatments that enable individuals to reflect the beauty and youthful energy they feel on the inside. My personal philosophy of rhinoplasty is to provide patients with results that make them happy. In doing so, I follow a conservative approach and utilize techniques that minimize the risk of long-term complications while ensuring excellent long-term cosmetic results. Each patient is unique and requires a similarly unique approach to achieve patient satisfaction. This approach involves careful consideration and conversation with the patient on an individual basis with the aid of computer photographs and computerized imaging to decide upon a treatment plan.
My training in rhinoplasty emphasizes adequate support of the nasal structure to resist postoperative scarring forces that result in contracture and “pinching” if inadequately supported. This results in durable, long-time results that avoid the typical “operated-on” appearance characteristic of some traditional rhinoplasty techniques.
In addition to cosmetic improvements in the nose, impaired breathing can be corrected in nearly all cases. With all rhinoplasty procedures, unimpaired nasal breathing is fundamental to any successful outcome.

Dr. Pero is also affiliated with Veterans Affairs North Texas Health Care System-Dallas where he provides Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery healthcare services to our Nation’s veterans.
Dr. Pero has been proud to serve and lead on local hospital Board of Managers as well as the Chief of Staff, a role selected by his fellow physicians. In addition, he has served as a Medical Advisory Board member to the medical device industry, helping shape advancements in his field.
As a native of the Dallas area (growing up in Allen, Texas), Dr. Pero is proud to be practicing in the North Dallas area.
Dr. Pero lives with his wife, Roxanne, a local Obstetrician and Gynecologist in Dallas and their four young children, Gideon, twins Hugo and Lucie, and Ella. They are active in their church and enjoy traveling, live music, entertaining with friends and are avid CrossFitters, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Stars & Mavericks fans.
